Free Sidebar GadgetsDid you know that you can download extra sidebar gadgets in Windows Vista?

GadgetsForVista.net has a good selection of gadgets to choose from.  Vista sidebar gadgets may slow down Windows, but you probably won’t notice it, unless you are using particular programs that use a lot of memory.

Tip: You can drag sidebar gadgets onto the desktop, and then close the sidebar by right-clicking and going to “Close Sidebar.”

Here are the gadgets pictured on the right:

  1. Vista Shutdown Control
  2. Run
  3. Notes (came with Vista)
  4. Piano
  5. DriveInfo
  6. Countdown to Anything

Can Christians design their own sidebar gadgets?

There are many ways to create a sidebar gadget, but the easiest way is to use a program called DesktopX by Stardock.  Download the simple object that I created Here (right-click, save link as)  Because I used the free version of DesktopX, it requires the person downloading the file to also have DesktopX installed.  However, with the professional version of DesktopX, you can create stand-alone sidebar gadgets, which means the person downloading the created gadget would not need DesktopX installed on their computer.  This would be nice, but I can not afford DesktopX Pro.

Don’t even bother trying to export the created object as a sidebar gadget…They have disabled the “Finish” button : (

Well, for what it’s worth, I hope you’ve found something useful in this post.  If anything, you at least now know how many days until LOST starts back up : )
