Yes, I've taken notes during homily. Especially when one particular priest, who gave bible classes, gives his homily.
It wasn't extensive word for word note taking more like jotting down key phrases so I could remember. (I've got a horrible memory)

I must have misunderstood you. Sorry about that. Yeah, those who are texting during Mass, which I've actually never seen anyone do, probably don't understand the Mass. If they did, I doubt they'd be doing this.

Thanks for the follow-up : )

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you. There are lots of people utilizing new media to spread the good news! I was only trying to say that people who currently text during mass, probably aren't doing it to evangelize, and the people who text before/after/outside of mass are doing it to let people know how great it was.

Andrew,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I would love for the Mass to last 2 hours! Many of our Orthodox brothers and sisters have longer Liturgies. I don't know how well our two-year old would take it though ; )

I would agree that the "average" Catholic may or may not spend an hour of his/her week thinking about their faith. However, I think you are totally wrong about why Catholics would and do tweet about Mass. Some sadly do tweet about how dreadful having to go to church is, but there are just as many of those who post about how great going to church is.

The truth is, there are many Catholic Christians who love the Lord and live their faith each and every day (not just for one hour on Sunday).

God Bless †

Hey, I'm all for it! Let's make mass 2 hours long, and once the mass is over, everyone will stick around and e-evangelize!

Seriously though, I think the average catholic doesn't spend more than an hour a week thinking about his/her faith. I think the only reason anyone would want to tweet/text during mass is because they already don't want to be there.

I'm with you. Cell phones should be left in the car or at home during Mass. Nice Tweet.

Yeah, I don't think it's at all appropriate during a Catholic Mass. Sometimes I'll send an update afterwards, but I wouldn't even considering having my cell phone on during the liturgy.
